Everton launches new strip with an eye to historic glory days

Club president Sir Philip Carter said: "Like most things in life we go through cycles and we are more than delighted with Le Coq Sportif.

"The feeling was with the success of 84-85 it would be a good idea to bring an element of it back.

"But we have got to look to the future. It’s all very well looking back but we have to say how can we compete or better that?"

Ray Evans, managing director of Everton’s new retail partner Kitbag.com, who are looking after kit sales and shops, said: "We are delighted with the design of this product.

"It is a tribute to the dream team and it has got their names printed inside the shirt so they will always be recognised and remembered.

"This is the start of a new era in Everton FC retail.

"This store will be the best club store in the country, without doubt."

As part of the launch lifesize cut-outs of Blues star Phil Jagielka in the kit were placed all over the city by campaign PR guru Tony Tighe and his team.
