Jack Rodwell salutes David Moyes impact - Everton FC latest

EVERTON midfielder Jack Rodwell believes manager David Moyes is the man to guide him through the next stage of his career.

And that will come as a relief to Everton supporters who have been concerned by the reported interest Manchester United and Arsenal have shown in the 18-year-old.

Rodwell made a significant first-team breakthrough last season, scoring his first senior goal in the FA Cup against Aston Villa.

And he recently gained valuable experience as England finished runners-up in the European Under-21 Championships in Sweden.

Now he hopes to step up a level when the 2009-10 campaign kicks off, recognising Moyes as the man who has helped him the most so far.

“He’s been amazing. He’s a great gaffer to have – he’s helped me a lot because I’m young,” Rodwell said.

“He puts his trust and faith into the youngsters as you’ve seen over the past years, which is good for me and good for the youngsters coming through at Everton.”

Everton will play a pre-season friendly at League Two side Bury on July 10.

The game replaces a scheduled fixture against Asante Kotoko in Ghana which was called off last week.
