Everton won't up offer for Sheffield United's Kyle Naughton

EVERTON refuse to be held to ransom over their attempt to sign Kyle Naughton from Sheffield United.

Goodison officials are furious that Sheffield United appear to be stalling on an agreement for the 20-year-old to become David Moyes’s latest summer signing.

Everton last week thrashed out a fee with the Bramall Lane side and personal terms with the right-back and were expecting Naughton on Merseyside yesterday for a medical.

But the situation changed when both Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa registered late interest in the player.

Tottenham have subsequently lodged a combined bid of £8million for Naughton and 19-year-old team-mate Kyle Walker, with the former valued at £5m.

Everton had already had an offer accepted for Naughton worth £4m that would rise to £5m depending on the progress of the defender at the club.

However, Sheffield United are now refusing to talk with Everton and allow the player to speak to anyone at the club, with Naughton’s representatives having since held talks with Tottenham.
