That is likely to come against the MLS All-Stars in Salt Lake City but even if he doesn’t start that match one thing is for certain – Evertonians will be seeing more of Rodwell in the forthcoming campaign.
“We can see Jack being more involved and we can see him improving again,” said Moyes. “You could see in the game against River Plate that he had quite a lot of the ball and a lot of control.
“It’s just his experience and his nous that needs to be worked on, particularly in the run-up to the goal. He needs to learn, as if he keeps doing that, it will be costly.”
Moyes also revealed Rodwell is in his thoughts for the opening match against Arsenal at Goodison on August 15.
Everton have ended their interest in signing young Port Vale striker James Lawrie.
The 18-year-old striker, who is currently on international duty with Northern Ireland, spent last week training at Finch Farm.
Vale manager Mickey Adams said yesterday: “Everton have been in touch to say they won’t be pursuing their interest.”
