Everton FC reject £18million Manchester City offer for Joleon Lescott

Joleon Lescott

EVERTON last night rejected an improved £18million offer from Manchester City for Joleon Lescott.

But City are refusing to call off their pursuit of the England international – despite receiving the clear message from the Goodison outfit that the player is not for sale.

City lodged the anticipated new bid yesterday after their opening gambit of £15m was dismissed by Everton two weeks ago.

Everton have given City no encouragement that Lescott is available for transfer, with manager David Moyes having stated at the shareholders forum earlier this month that he does not want any players to leave.

Such a stance has been backed by Goodison owner Bill Kenwright, who says there is no pressing need to cash in on any of their squad members despite the financial constraints within Moyes is having to work during the summer transfer window.
