MARK LAWRENSON: Everton struggles are no surprise

IMAGINE if Liverpool had 10 players out injured.

Or Manchester United, who probably have the biggest squad of the lot.

It would be big news and there would be serious doubts about how they would cope with such a loss of personnel.

So it’s no surprise to see Everton struggling to come to terms with their problems.

I have always had admiration for David Moyes and the way he brings in versatile players to plug in the gaps and minimise the impact of an injury crisis.

But it only works for two or three games in reality. And merely filling holes up doesn’t make the team stronger. There’s no continuity, form or confidence.

It’s not as if Moyes can admonish players after he has asked them to do so much.

But I don’t see Harry Redknapp making things easier tonight at Tottenham given the way they treat the Carling Cup.
