Everton's Dan Gosling _300
DAN GOSLING is hoping for happy memories should he get the chance of another Wembley appearance this afternoon.
The Everton midfielder was handed a first-ever call up this week to the England under-21 squad for their UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Portugal.
If the 19-year-old is handed any action by coach Stuart Pearce, it would be his outing at Wembley following his late cameo from the bench in Everton’s 2-1 FA Cup final defeat against Chelsea in May.
And that experience has made Gosling eager to ensure regular visits to the impressive national stadium.
“It was a great day for me and one that I'll remember for a very long time," he said. “I managed to get on the pitch for about the last ten minutes.
“It was a great achievement for us to get there but perhaps we scored a bit too early.
“It was a great feeling walking out, a shame we lost, but a great day for everyone connected with the club. Hopefully we can do the same again.
“I'm just thankful to have played there already, and hopefully I can play there many more times to come.”
Gosling has been a regular in the Everton squad this season, appearing in all six Europa League matches so far this season, and netted the winner in the 2-1 win at West Ham United last Sunday.
The midfielder has previously earned international honours at U16, U17 and U19 level, progress he believes holds him in good stead for
“I knew a few of the lads from previous trips with the other age groups, so it wasn't completely strange so I'm very pleased to be here," Gosling said.
