Everton FC's Kirkby stadium
EVERTON reignited the Merseyside ground-share debate last night as chief executive Robert Elstone said he would consider sharing a stadium with Liverpool.
Mr Elstone was speaking as the Government confirmed it had rejected the £400m plans for a new Everton stadium in Kirkby alongside partner Tesco.
Fans from both clubs have generally been strongly against sharing.
But with Destination Kirkby rejected and Liverpool’s Stanley Park move stalled, financial realities could return it to the agenda.
Mr Elstone said: “It’s certainly one of the options that we will need to cover. A shared stadium is perhaps an option if it’s affordable.”
