Despite the derby defeat to Liverpool last week, Everton were encouraged by their performance and earned progress to the knockout stages of the Europa League with a 1-0 win in Greece against AEK Athens in midweek.
And after yesterday’s dramatic late fightback, Moyes said: "There’s a different feeling around the place now. We have seen what can happen if we have a go.
"We know we are lacking the quality of last season because we are missing some of our better players.
"But what we have here is that we can fall back on to our foundations, which are hard work, commitment, good organisation and discipline, and if we do that, it might get us through. Today it got us a point.
"I think a lot of players didn’t know what that meant (to the crowd). Today, and in the derby last week, they’ll have seen that if you aren’t playing that well, nobody will complain as long as you are trying your best."
On-loan Brazilian striker Jo started up front for the third successive game. And although his replacement Saha proved the catalyst for Everton’s revival in the final quarter, Moyes said: "I thought Jo played really well last week and I thought he played well again today up until 60 minutes, when their second goal made me change things a bit.
"Louis, by his own admission has been under it a little bit lately and not been playing as well as he can, and has been carrying a bit of an injury.
"We’ve been trying to bring him back, he’s been for treatment at several different places over the last week or two, and we want him back at his best."
