Everton FC latest: Hamstrung Jack Rodwell out for a month

Jack Rodwell celebrates

“But we know we need to try and win these games.

“We will certainly go into the next one at Sunderland looking for the win.”

Everton face the Wearsiders on Boxing Day, and will travel to the North East on Christmas Day ready for the Stadium of Light showdown.

And Osman added: “We have to go away Christmas night to prepare for the game but that is part of football.

“We will certainly go up there and give it our all to come away with three points on Boxing Day.”

Steven Pienaar believes a lack of killer instinct is costing Everton valuable points this season.

“If you play at home, you have to take three points from games like this to get out of the position we are in, and it is very frustrating,” he said after the Birmingham game.

“We had chances and we could have scored two or three but that’s football.

“We played some good football and had a lot of possession but we just didn’t have the killer instinct.

“Birmingham was a good chance to get all three points and now we have to go all the way to Sunderland (on Boxing Day) to try to get a win.

“That’s not going to be easy the way they are playing at home and (manager) Steve Bruce is doing a good job.”
