TIM HOWARD believes loan striker Landon Donovan will have “absolutely no problem” adapting to life in the Premier League with Everton.
Donovan will begin a 10-week stay at Goodison in the New Year after agreeing a temporary move from MLS side LA Galaxy.
The 27-year-old has twice previously tried his hand in Europe in the German Bundesliga, but failed to impress either at Bayer Leverkusen as a youngster and at Bayern Munich last year.
However, Donovan has won 120 caps for the United States national team and scored more goals for his country than any other player.
And international team-mate Howard believes that vast experience on the world stage will stand the striker in good stead when his Goodison career begins next week.
“In terms of the general standard the critics are probably right to say the MLS doesn’t match the Premier League,” said the goalkeeper. “But Landon has shown he can play on the World stage time and time again. He will have no problem adapting to the Premier League, absolutely no problem. There are certain players that exceed the standard over in the States and Landon is one of them.
“He is a talented player, he has won so many player of the year awards and MVP’s so he has been really, really good. He is still only a young guy too at just 27.
“Landon will be fantastic for us. He possesses a lot of skill that will see him do really well at Goodison.”
Donovan has also caught the eye of Phil Jagielka, who has welcomed the striker’s imminent arrival.
