Tim Cahill a major doubt for Everton’s FA Cup tie with Carlisle at Goodison

However, Carlisle manager Greg Abbot anticipates Everton and Moyes to be well schooled on the League One side ahead of the weekend’s third round clash.

United are enjoying a seven game unbeaten run and will be making their second trip to the region in less than a week on Saturday following Monday afternoon’s 0-0 draw at Tranmere Rovers.

And manager Abbot believes his side will enjoy the occasion, one in which he says all the pressure will be on Moyes’ troops to show their top flight class.

Abbot said: “They are a Premier League club who have everything absolutely correct.

“I expect David to have done all his homework. Everton are a big club with great tradition and have had great success over the past year, and resource-wise they are a little bit behind the big boys too.

“But with the way our boys are performing at the minute, and the honesty they are showing, we are really looking forward to the game.”

United boast in their ranks the in-form Vincent Pericard, a former Juventus and Portsmouth player with Champions League experience.

The Cumbrians defeated Norwich City and Morecambe to reach this stage of the FA Cup.
