Jo leaves for Turkey as Everton FC eye goalkeeper Jan Mucha

EVERTON have cut their ties with Jo who has secured a move to Galatasaray.

It was confirmed last night that the loan rebel had returned to Manchester City who immediately loaned him out to the Turkish club.

The Brazilian striker’s days at Goodison were numbered when he was suspended by Everton manager David Moyes for returning to his home country last month without first seeking permission from the club.

Not only did his actions breach club discipline but Jo also left Everton a striker down throughout the busy Christmas and New Year period.

After initially joining Everton on loan for the second half of last season, Jo agreed to extend his stay for the 2009-10 campaign but his mid-winter sojourn left him with no way back. Moyes said at the start of January: “We like Jo but there has to be discipline at football clubs.

“He left over a busy period and left us short of players. We’ve suspended him from the club. It might change but at the moment that’s the situation.”

Everton have decided to cut their losses on a player who struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League since joining City for £18million in June 2008 after hitting 44 goals in 77 appearances for Russian club CSKA Moscow.

Jo scored just two goals in 24 appearances for Everton this season.

He follows Lucas Neill to Galatasaray where he will stay until the end of the season.
