Everton FC latest: David Moyes calls for Goodison roar and ponders shock Mikel Arteta recall

DAVID MOYES wants Goodison to help roar Everton a step nearer Wembley today – as he contemplated handing a shock return to Mikel Arteta.

Moyes’s side aim to continue their impressive recent form when they entertain fellow Premier League side Birmingham City in their FA Cup fourth round tie.

Everton are enjoying a winter revival having lost just one of their last 10 games and stayed unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games.

They notched their best win of the season last weekend when top-four hopefuls Manchester City were outplayed in a 2-0 win amid a crackling Goodison atmosphere.

And Moyes believes the supporters can again play their part this afternoon.

“We are capable of beating most sides on our day and I think our day is looking more likely than earlier in the season,” said the Everton manager.

“There has always been a buzz here but it’s great when you feel the form is improving. The players sense they are doing better and the supporters do as well.

“The atmosphere in Goodison has played a big part in our performance lately. When we have our players back we are a match for most teams.”

Everton’s season has been severely hampered by a clutch of long-term injuries, but the treatment room is now beginning to clear.

Among those close to a return is Arteta, who has not played since suffering a serious knee injury in the goalless draw at Newcastle United almost a year ago.

The Spanish schemer has finally resumed fully training and earlier this week declared himself ready to play.
