Everton FC: Academy side back in league action

FOLLOWING their progress in the FA Youth Cup Everton under-18s get back in FA Premier Academy League action at Stoke City on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

It has been a frustrating start to 2010 for Neil Dewsnip’s youngsters, despite not having lost since the turn of the year, because they have only played one game due to the weather and the Youth Cup.

Three games have been called off this month already and the only time they have played was in last Thursday’s re-arranged Youth Cup fourth round clash at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Dewsnip’s side eventually moved into the fifth round with a 2-0 victory at the Withdean Stadium thanks to two late goals from Shane Duffy and Adam Forshaw. That stretched their unbeaten sequence to seven matches going back to early October, while they have not conceded a goal in that time.

Everton are third in Group C of the Academy League and will be keen to carry on heir good form at Stoke this week and then in next Thursday’s FA Youth Cup tie with Preston North End at Deepdale (kick-off 7pm).
