Dewsnip was happy with how his side overcame a tricky tie at Brighton and is hoping for more improvement this weekend.
The Everton coach said: “It was thorough and professional performance as opposed to exciting at Brighton. We did show a lot of ring-rustiness, but that would have been expected.
“But we got through and in the last 15 minutes when we scored it was quite comfortable.”
If Everton overcome Preston in the Youth Cup quearter-finals, Everton would travel to either of the current top two in the FA Premier Academy League North West section, leaders Blackburn Rovers Manchester United, who meet at Ewood Park on Thursday evening.
