ACADEMY FOOTBALL: Hallum Hope’s winner gives Everton under-18s psychological advantage over Blackburn ahead of FA Youth Cup quarter-final

Everton have rearranged one of the matches called off last month due to the weather. They will now take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Finch Farm this Saturday (kick-off 11am) looking to extend their unbeaten run and continue to move up the north west section table.

They currently lie sixth nine points behind Blackburn, but they have two games in hand on the leaders. The last goal Everton conceded was against West Bromwich Albion on October 10 and Dewsnip said: “We are in a really good run and it is amazing we haven’t conceded a goal in such a long time. That is nine clean sheets in a row which in any standard of football is getting close to being unique if not so already.

“Certainly people around the building here can’t remember a team going that length of time without conceding a goal. That is very encouraging. We are very thorough and hard to beat. We are just looking to be a bit more creative in the final third and score a few more goals.

“We are in situation where the team changes, but the lads who come in are just carrying on and doing well. Hopefully that can continue.”

EVERTON UNDER-18s: Davies, Nsiala (Craig 65), Bidwell, Barkley, Duffy, Donegan, Kinsella, Wallace (Forshaw 55), Garbutt, McAleny, Baxter (Hope 25). Subs: Murphy, Roberts.
