The challenge for the rest of the season is to try to ensure Everton are involved in next season’s Europa League and Sunday’s trip to Tottenham is crucial.
“We will do our best to get back into Europe,” Moyes said.
“It’s a long shot at the moment but we’ll try to achieve it.”
The one positive for Everton was the return of Phil Jagielka after 10 months on the sidelines with a cruciate ligament injury.
The England international defender came on early in the second half after Philippe Senderos limped off.
He said: “It’s great to have Jags back.
“He will improve us and help us towards the end of the season.”
