Louis Saha’s international rescue plans dashed - Everton FC latest

LOUIS SAHA’S hopes of an international comeback have been dashed.

The Everton striker was last week called up by France for the first time in more than three years for tomorrow’s glamour friendly against Spain in Paris.

But now the 31-year-old has been forced to withdraw from the squad because of a thigh injury that ruled him out of Everton’s 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Saha was declared unfit after undergoing medical tests yesterday at France’s Clairefontaine training ground.

He will be replaced by Panathinaikos’s former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse, who was added to the squad as cover on Sunday.

Saha, who earned the last of his 18 caps in a 1-0 friendly win against Greece in November 2006, is Everton’s top scorer this season with 15 goals in 31 games.

Saha will now return to Finch Farm to continue treatment and must be considered a doubt for Sunday’s visit of Hull City.
