Everton FC manager David Moyes hails Phil Neville

Moyes assembled his players earlier this month to warn them not to rest on their laurels, a message he was keen to stress again yesterday.

Victory against Bolton would ensure a club record seventh succession home Premier League win and strengthen claims for a top-six finish.

And Moyes said: "There is always something to play for. When I took over I used to think Everton would get themselves in a safe position by Easter and then knock off.

"That was my impression and we had to get that knocked out of them. The players can't afford to knock off or I will be on their case.

"They are playing well now and have been for the last two or three months. We have had the odd blip here and there but overall I have been really pleased with how they have done.

"But if we want to finish the season on a high we are going to have to continue winning at Goodison."

Only Arsenal and Liverpool have won at Everton in the league this season, and Moyes added: "It's amazing. It doesn't feel like we have only lost twice. But if we end up that way it'll be great. Talk is cheap, and we can only take one game at a time.

"The gap between us and the teams in the European places is a bit bigger than we'd like it to be.

"At the start of the season, we'll always look back at the games against Stoke and Wolves and wonder, plus we also went out of the FA Cup at Goodison, so the season will be tinged by that a little bit."

Both Louis Saha and Leon Osman are back in contention for a starting role after injury while Tim Cahill has shrugged off the calf problem that forced him off against Birmingham last week.
