Joleon Lescott ruled out of clash with Everton FC after injury

“There was a great chance for (Stefano) Okaka that he unfortunately missed, and a penalty appeal that might have led to a second penalty.

“City were much happier to hear the final whistle than we were. We’d have played another 15 minutes, even with a big game on Wednesday.”

Hodgson took off Bobby Zamora and Zoltan Gera early in the second half in preparation for the FA Cup quarter-final replay against Tottenham on Wednesday.

“He is also hoping that Brede Hangeland will have recovered from a chest problem.

“Hangeland is injured but hopefully fit for Wednesday,” he said. “(John) Pantsil is a long way away, weeks.”

Meanwhile, Mancini admits he is flattered to be linked to the Juventus job but insists there is “no truth at all” to reports he has already been approached about taking over the Serie A giants.

Juve are in somewhat of a crisis and suffered arguably their most humiliating night in recent times on Thursday when a 4-1 defeat at Fulham saw them dumped out of the Europa League.

Reports suggest Juve director-general Roberto Bettega broached the subject with Mancini at Craven Cottage but the former Inter coach insists he is not planning on a swift return to Italy.

“I was at the stadium on Thursday simply because today we were meeting Fulham in the league so I wanted to watch the show there,” Mancini was quoted as saying in the Italian press.

“I am honoured that my name has been linked to that of Juventus but there is no truth at all.”
