Everton FC boss David Moyes escapes punishment as Roberto Mancini charged with misconduct

MANCHESTER CITY manager Roberto Mancini has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association – but Everton counterpart David Moyes has escaped censure after the Eastlands bust-up between the pair on Wednesday.

Mancini took exception to Moyes picking up the ball – an action he considered as time-wasting – in injury time of City's 2-0 defeat and the duo had to be separated by fourth official Howard Webb before referee Peter Walton's intervention.

Both were sent to the dressing rooms and, having considered referee Walton's report, the FA have decided to charge Mancini while also writing to Moyes to remind him of his responsibilities and conduct but he will not be charged.

“It was nothing really, and I've no problem with Roberto,” said Moyes yesterday.

“He was fine immediately afterwards, he apologised walking down the tunnel, and I have no problem at all with him, you just get along with it.

“It was big of him to apologise. In the corridor he was very good.

"He came up and it was in front of quite a lot of TV reporters and journalists. He did it in the open as well.

“It was gone and forgotten about and we shared a drink in his office as well. I didn’t see it as being a problem.”

Moyes takes his players to Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon to take on Mick McCarthy's improving Midlanders.

And he said: “I think I will be staying well away from Mick's dug-out for this one – he'd better keep away from mine!

“There is quite a distance between the two dug-outs at Molineux so I feel we will both be safe this time.

“There's many times I have run to get the ball and to try to speed the game up, I've got no problem with that.

“It is a passionate game and it shows that people care about their jobs. These things happen."
