DAVID MOYES has praised Johnny Heitinga for his role in Everton’s revival this season.
The Toffees manager forked out £6m to bring the Dutchman to Merseyside from Atletico Madrid last summer.
Following a run of impressive performances from the versatile Holland international, Moyes has been delighted with the return on his investment.
Heitinga has been used in midfield and defence this season, answering the call from his manager during a potentially crippling injury crisis.
Moyes says Everton’s early season form hindered Heitinga’s progress but is pleased with how the former Ajax man has now adapted to life in the Premier League.
"I think Johnny had a difficult time when he first came because the team wasn't playing very well,” said Moyes.
“I also think he was completely shocked by the speed of the Premier League.
