David Moyes 300
HARRY REDKNAPP has nominated David Moyes as the man to follow Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager.
Moyes has attracted plentiful plaudits in recent months for the manner in which Everton have transformed their season with a run of just two defeats in 21 Premier League games.
It has given them hope of Europa League qualification that appeared a pipedream when they earned just 15 points from their first 14 top-flight games.
Reports this week have suggested Ferguson believes Moyes is the ideal candidate to take over at Old Trafford after his expected departure at the end of next season.
And Tottenham manager Redknapp believes his Goodison counterpart should be considered for the leading jobs.
“I like Carlo Ancelotti, he is a smashing bloke and he seems a top manager,” said Redknapp. “But with the same players and the same resources, David Moyes could have done the same job at Chelsea.
“But I still think when the big jobs come up the leading clubs will look for foreign managers. Why? Well, we are getting more foreign owners. They read about big names, great European players from the past and they are attracted by their reputation.
“I know people have been talking about who is in the frame for the United job when Alex decides to call it a day. It’s Capello, it’s Mourinho, it’s Hiddink and Wenger.
“Why isn’t Moyes considered a candidate?”
Moyes was Barclays Manager of the Month in March, his seventh such award since taking over at Goodison eight years ago.
Meanwhile, Philippe Senderos is hopeful he has shown enough in training to earn a permanent move to Everton in the summer.
