And Donovan has reiterated his desire to return to the Premier League in the future.
“The experience was a priceless one for me,” said the attacker.
“The games were always fast and ultra-competitive and my time there certainly made me a better player.
“I loved playing at Goodison Park. I feel like I had to earn the respect of the fans and, once I did, they were always going to support me.
“I would absolutely consider going back to England if the opportunity ever presented itself again.”
Meanwhile, Everton skipper Phil Neville has backed calls for David Beckham to join the England squad for the World Cup finals.
Beckham is unavailable as he recovers from a torn Achilles tendon suffered earlier this year, but England coach Capello has suggested he could have a role in the team camp in South Africa.
And Neville said: “He is an inspirational type of figure.
“He has got wonderful experience because he has played in three World Cups so playing in a World Cup is not something that will faze David.
“He could pass on a lot of experience to the younger players in the squad – but it will be up to Fabio Capello.”
Neville, along with team-mate Phil Jagielka, was part of Capello’s initial 45-man squad but was forced to undergo knee surgery last week that will sideline him for at least two month.
“It is disappointing for anyone to miss a World Cup,” said Neville. “It is the pinnacle of anyone’s career and no one should tell you otherwise.”
