I can fulfil my ambitions at Everton FC, says Jack Rodwell after signing new five-year deal

Jack Rodwell celebrates

JACK RODWELL is confident he can fulfil his ambitions at Everton.

The highly-rated teenager penned a new five-year deal at the club yesterday amid growing interest from a host of top Premier League clubs.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City were all said to be monitoring the player’s situation.

Rodwell revealed he has never felt the need to look any further than Everton, though, who he believes can help him realise his potential and become a full England international.

The Merseyside-born youngster says Everton are on the up and that he had no hesitation signing a new contract.

“It’s not really crossed my mind to leave,” said Rodwell.

“I've been here since I was a kid and I’ve been happy ever since. I was perfectly happy to sign my new deal.

“I feel like I can fulfil all my ambitions here.

“The club has a great squad at the moment and, if everybody is fit, like we showed at the back end of last season, we can do really well.

“I think we can beat the big teams as well. Whoever else the manager adds to the squad, if any, it’s going to help us even more. If you look at the squad when everyone’s fit it is really good.”

Rodwell made 36 appearances last season and is a key figure in David Moyes’ plans to take the club forward.

Moyes has helped oversee Rodwell’s development from Academy graduate to first team regular.

And the 19-year-old paid tribute to his manager, who was a defining factor in him committing to Everton until at least 2015.
