Steven Pienaar 300
Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich have been monitoring Pienaar’s situation for some time, while Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with the 28-year-old.
Everton manager David Moyes is keen for the South African to become the latest player to commit his long-term future to the club after Cahill, Rodwell and Seamus Coleman agreed deals during the past fortnight, while discussions have already begun with Leighton Baines and Mikel Arteta.
Pienaar is currently preparing for the World Cup with South Africa, and believes the host nation can reach the quarter-finals.
Bafana Bafana kick off their campaign against Mexico on June 11 before further group games against Uruguay and France. And Pienaar said: “I rate our chances of doing well in the tournament very high. In fact I am very confident that we will go further than the second round. We are definitely ready to go because the confidence is there, the spirit is there and I believe we will do well.”
Pienaar was left on the bench in South Africa’s 1-1 draw with Bulgaria on Monday but is in line to appear in another friendly against Colombia today.
