Leighton Baines - England 300
LEIGHTON BAINES faces an anxious wait to discover whether his World Cup dream has been shattered.
Fabio Capello will today name the 23 players that will form England’s squad for the forthcoming finals in South Africa.
The Italian says he has already decided on the seven players from his provisional 30-man squad who will be dropped, and will contact them individually before the final squad is announced on the Football Association website.
The inclusion of midfielder Gareth Barry depends on the outcome of checks on his injured ankle early this morning.
England showed only glimpses of their best form during the recent warm-up wins over Mexico and Japan, with Capello stating after the latter victory on Sunday: “I know my squad for South Africa.
"It is the same 23 that was always in my mind.”
Baines didn’t feature against Japan in Graz, but played the full 90 minutes in the 3-1 win against Mexico at Wembley eight days ago having started the previous friendly against Egypt in March.
