David Moyes 300
DAVID MOYES has played down hopes of qualification for Europe – and admits Everton have only themselves to blame.
The Goodison outfit will aim to continue their impressive end to the season when they entertain struggling Blackburn Rovers this afternoon.
Victory would extend their unbeaten run to six games and move Everton, albeit temporarily, to within one point of sixth-placed neighbours Liverpool.
However, only the top five are guaranteed European qualification with Moyes’s men a massive nine points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur having played a game more.
And despite the current host of injuries, the Goodison manager acknowledges his team have ultimately undermined their chances by a poor start to the campaign that left them just three points clear of the relegation zone just six weeks ago.
“I don’t think we can make Europe,” said Moyes. “The way it has gone I don’t think that’s there at all.
“We weren’t good enough in the early part of that race so we can’t have any complaints about it.
“In the early part of the season we didn’t have injuries. We had most people fit but we just didn’t get the results.
“It is sort of in reverse order because we have lost a lot of key players but we have been able to grind out some results in recent weeks.
