Everton FC’s Louis Saha says life is tweet now goal drought is over

Louis Saha, Everton FC

LOUIS SAHA expressed his relief at ending his goal drought after helping Everton FC secure a dramatic victory at Craven Cottage – then vowed to begin tweeting again.

Saha emerged from the bench to net in injury time as the Goodison outfit notched only their second win at Fulham in 45 years with a 3-1 triumph yesterday.

Jack Rodwell then sealed the win with practically last kick of the match after Royston Drenthe’s early opener had been cancelled out by a sublime chip from Fulham substitute Bryan Ruiz midway through the second half.

Saha, who replaced full debutant Apostolos Vellios shortly after the interval, had last scored in the 2-1 home win against Fulham in March before suffering the ankle injury that curtailed his campaign. And the 33-year-old is now intent on winning back his starting place for Wednesday’s Carling Cup fourth round clash at home to Chelsea.

“It was a big relief for me to score,” said Saha. “It’s been seven months since my injury and that last goal I scored was against Fulham. As a striker, it’s all about scoring goals.

“I feel close to full fitness now. Every minute I play is a boost. There are some big games coming so it’s a big week for us and everyone will get a chance to play their part.

“I’m pleased with how I am, but it’s all about goals. I feel ready to start against Chelsea.”

Saha caused a furore last month with an outburst on Twitter after being omitted from the squad for the home clash against Wigan Athletic.

The striker has since restricted his use of the social media website and had not sent a public message for more than a fortnight before yesterday’s match.
