Blue Watch: Diniyar Bilyaletdinov eager to jump rather than be pushed at Everton FC

AFTER two years of indifferent performances, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov has deigned to tell Everton FC that he wants to get rid of us.

The Russian winger – who has never come close to justifying the £10million price tag that the Blues paid for him – says he will leave Goodison in January if he does not start getting a run of games.

You’ve got to hand it to him, he’s got some nerve to treat Everton in this way. It’s a pity he doesn’t show as much self-assuredness on the pitch.

Clearly his opportunities are going to be limited when he has Dutch international and former Real Madrid star Royston Drenthe ahead of him in the pecking order.

On the other flank, Seamus Coleman is still providing the Blues with industrious performances each week. Add into the mix that Bilyaletdinov is not a natural winger, but prefers a role where he is playing off the front man, and you can see that he is going to find it difficult to endear himself to David Moyes.

The Scot has always created sides where players fit the system, individuals – like Cahill – make sacrifices for the greater good of the team.

Bilyaletdinov has never looked like a player that was prepared to do that, and although he is not a technically bad footballer he just doesn’t fit the Everton mould.
