Mark Lawrenson: Change at Everton FC has to be for the better not for changes’ sake

WHAT should have been a proud week for Everton FC ended up being not quite so straightforward.

With Jack Rodwell called up by England, Marouane Fellaini signing a new contract, and Wolverhampton Wanderers seen off at Goodison, there was plenty of encouragement.

Yet off the field, the issues, unrest and embarrassments continue to mount.

Another home game, another protest by supporters group The Blue Union.

My brother-in-law is a massive Everton fan and was among those on the march calling for change among the Goodison board.

He says he is bored of the football, bored of what’s going on behind the scenes and, for whatever reason, believes Moyes has taken the club as far as he can.

I simply tell him he is mad.

He doesn’t know what the club has got and, for all their faults, Moyes and chairman Bill Kenwright are the right men for Everton right now.
