Leighton Baines 300
ROYSTON DRENTHE is eager to forge a partnership at Everton FC with Leighton Baines, a player he regards as one of the best left-backs in the world.
Drenthe has been hugely impressed with the form of Leighton Baines since his arrival at Everton FC from Real Madrid on deadline day in August.
Baines created Phil Jagielka’s Everton FC opener with a fine set-piece delivery in Saturday’s Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers before his late spot-kick ensured a 2-1 win.
The full-back has previously enjoyed an impressive partnership with Steven Pienaar down the left flank, and new boy Drenthe is now determined to follow suit.
“At the moment I am playing with one of the best left-backs in the world,” said the Dutchman. “Leighton has really good qualities.
“We had a good relationship right from the beginning and that is really important. He can understand me and I can understand him – I am really happy to play with someone like that.
“The gaffer gave me some jobs to do (for the Wolves game), to help Bainesy. I played okay, I feel I can do better and be more important for the team. I am not disappointed – I played a good game and we won but I can do more.
