Graeme Sharp believes Gary Speed could have become a future Everton FC manager

GRAEME SHARP believes Gary Speed had all the hallmarks of a future Everton FC manager.

The former Goodison Park striker has added his tributes to Speed who died on Sunday morning.

Sharp says Wales had become revitalised under Speed’s stewardship and reckons the 42-year-old would one day have been a perfect candidate to lead Everton one day.

Speed, a boyhood Everton fan, went on to represent the club with distinction between 1996-98, captaining the side in his second season.

And Everton are paying their own respects to Speed this week by closing the Park End gates at Goodison to allow supporters to leave their messages.

Books of condolence are available for well wishers to offer memories of Speed at Everton One, Everton Two and the club’s official website.

A period of applause will be held before Sunday’s Premier League game against Stoke City and will be led by Speed’s former team-mates.

Club legend Sharp has been upset by Speed’s passing and says it is sad that a return to Everton will now never happen.
