Everton FC youngster Ross Barkley admits he’s frustrated at not playing

ROSS BARKLEY admits he is frustrated at being out of the Everton FC team – but trusts David Moyes to turn him into a first-team regular when the time is right.

Barkley, who turned 18 last week, is poised to sign a new three-year contract in the coming days having impressed following his full debut in this season’s opening game at home to Queens Park Rangers.

The teenage midfielder started the first three games of the campaign but has been restricted to bench duty since the 1-0 win at Blackburn Rovers in late August.

Barkley last appeared as a substitute in the 2-0 win at Bolton Wanderers last month, but the Wavertree-born youngster is prepared to be patient.

“It can be (frustrating) because I want to play all the time but I fully understand because I am still only very young and the manager knows what he’s doing and what’s best for me.

“He’s had young players coming through before. That’s what’s great about Everton. The manager will always give young players the chance to play at the right time.

“I think I’ll play in the FA Youth Cup this season, which will be useful.”

Moyes hopes Everton’s FA Youth Cup campaign, which started last night against Crystal Palace, can give Barkley the chance to develop and gain the crucial playing time he was deprived of by a triple leg break in 2010.

And the starlet admits the injury – sustained on duty with England U-19s – once left him fearing for his future.
