EVERTON players delighted young Alder Hey patients during a visit to the children’s hospital.

The annual Christmas treat saw the Goodison Park squad tour wards and hand out presents.

The players also signed balls and shirts for some of the youngsters.

Chris Done, fundraising manager for hospital charity the Imagine Appeal, said: “It was an amazing visit. all the children really loved it.

“There is always a lovely atmosphere when the players come in, the children get very excited and some who have been discharged wait around to see them.

“It is so kind of the players to give up their time and engage with the children and their families.”

Dutch defender John Heitinga posted a photograph on Twitter after the visit, describing the experience as “priceless”.

Tim Cahill said on the social networking site that he enjoyed “spreading Christmas spirit” at the hospital.
