Jack Rodwell 300
DAVID MOYES believes Jack Rodwell’s career prospects would be best served by staying at Everton FC this season.
But the Everton FC manager admits any decision to cash in on the England international could be taken out of his hands.
Less than a fortnight before the January transfer window opens, speculation has reignited over Rodwell’s immediate future with Chelsea reportedly pondering a £20million move for the 20-year-old.
While Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring developments, Moyes revealed there has been no bids table for the midfielder.
And, with next summer’s Euro 2012 finals homing into view, the Scot is confident Rodwell – who will miss this evening’s home Premier League clash against Swansea City with a hamstring complaint – is better off staying put.
“There was a bit of speculation about Jack in the summer as well,” said Moyes. “Nothing came of it and hopefully nothing will come of this one either.
“His development here has been good, he came on the scene very early but overall I will always think that players are better served being at Everton.
“I don’t think we would have to sell him because of the circumstances as I think we got the money we needed back in in the summer and I don’t think we would be selling because we need the money for the bank or anything like that just now.
“So it would be a purely football decision, I’ve not heard any differently. But we’ve not had a bid and we’ve not heard anything from Chelsea.”
