Everton FC manager David Moyes knows he faces a key task to rebuild the club’s ageing squad

DAVID MOYES admits he faces a rebuilding job in the near future as he looks for the next generation of Everton players.

But the Goodison manager admits the lack of transfer funds means he has no choice but to extract the maximum from his ageing squad.

With Marouane Fellaini, Jack Rodwell and Seamus Coleman all absent, the average age of the team that started Boxing Day’s 1-1 draw at Sunderland was 30.3 years old.

Moyes is aware of the need to bring in fresh blood with the likes of Tim Cahill, Sylvain Distin, Louis Saha and Phil Neville all entering the final stages of their careers.

And he said: “The time will come, unfortunately, when we will need a big rebuilding job here. But hopefully these boys can keep playing, and it doesn't all come at once.

“But that is why we have to keep adding younger players to the squad, so that as one drops off we have another one coming through.
