DAVID MOYES has warned his players that anyone called up for Olympic duty will not be given time off during next season to recuperate.
The Goodison manager has revealed that a number of his squad have been contacted over whether they would be willing to represent Great Britain during the games later this year.
The football tournament at the Olympics runs between July 25 and August 11, with the Premier League campaign expected to begin the following week.
It could be a busy summer for several Everton players with the European Championships also taking place in Poland and Ukraine.
And Moyes is concerned some of his players may suffer burnout if they become heavily involved in the Great Britain team.
“Quite a lot of our players have had letters of invitation,” said the Everton manager. “Am I worried? I am because there’s a lot of them got all sorts of things going on over the summer, whether it’s qualifiers, whether it’s the European Championships, whether it’s playing in America, whether it’s playing in Australia.
“It’s a real difficult one. It would be hard to say to players not to (play in the Olympics) but in the same breath Everton is their bread and butter and this is where they get paid. I think they have to give that a bit of consideration.
