DAVID Moyes insisted Everton’s revival is still a work in progress but has told his players to guard against complacency as they aim for the FA Cup quarter-final place.
The Blues host Blackpool at Goodison Park today knowing victory will put them just 90 minutes away from the last four and Wembley.
But Moyes says Everton have bowed out to lower league opposition too often at this stage to allow them to take anything for granted against the promotion chasing Seasiders.
He said: “We are going to have to earn it in every minute on the pitch. If anybody’s coming and thinking it’s going to be an easy game, I’m certainly not. And it’s not the message that the players are getting here.
“Blackpool are a side who are in good form and doing well just now, so the message from us will be the exact opposite.
“If the supporters are coming here thinking it’s an easy way into the quarter-finals, they’re wrong.”
Moyes is hoping there is more to come from his team, as an injury list – which still includes Phil Jagielka, Leon Osman, Jack Rodwell and Nikica Jelavic – lessens.
“I think when you get to this stage of the cup you want to try and get through as many rounds as you can,” he said. “But there’s no point us getting too excited because we’ve failed at several attempts before, so we have to be cautious.
