STEVEN PIENAAR is expected on Merseyside today to undergo a medical, after the Blues agreed a fee with Spurs for the midfielder over the weekend.
If all goes to plan, Pienaar, 30, will then complete his permanent return to Goodison tomorrow.
Pienaar’s agent Rob Moore confirmed the breakthrough in talks between Everton and the Londoners, when he published a blog on a website he promotes stating that the agreement had been reached.
Meanwhile, Darron Gibson wants to show another side to his game in the forthcoming season – and has also vowed to target more goals when the campaign gets underway.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder gravitated towards a holding midfield role after arriving from Manchester United in January. but believes he has plenty more to offer apart from anchoring David Moyes’ engine room.
Gibson, 24, showed his attacking prowess by scoring the only goal in a memorable Goodison win over Manchester City, and with a reputation as a long-range goal-getter he wants to hit the back of the net more often – starting with an opening game against his former club, Manchester United.
But he said: “More goals would be my main aim and obviously just to keep the performances going. And hopefully the team can finish higher than last year.
