SEAMUS COLEMAN is determined to remain the man in possession when Everton aim to strengthen their hold on second place tomorrow.

With Tony Hibbert having been sidelined through injury, Coleman has started Everton’s last three games in his preferred right-back position.

The Republic of Ireland international was an impressive performer in last weekend’s win over Southampton.

And with Everton making the short trip to Wigan Athletic, Coleman is keen to retain his starting role in the coming weeks.

“I am really enjoying getting a few games – all footballers want to play every week,” said the 23-year-old.

“Sometimes you have to be patient and bide your time.

“But you know there will be injuries or lack of form and when you get in you have to do well and that is what I am trying to do.

“Nobody is happy not to be playing. I had a good summer and got back for pre-season ready to go so hopefully I can have a good season.
