Everton FC’s last five FA Cup third round ties

January 2012 Everton 2 Tamworth 0

The plucky non-Leaguers gave a good account of themselves but were unable to stop David Moyes’s men easing into the next round. John Heitinga gave Everton an early lead with a header before Leighton Baines sealed the win with a 79th-minute penalty after a foul on Royston Drenthe.

January 2011 Scunthorpe 1 Everton 5

A comprehensive victory for the rampant visitors, with goals from Louis Saha and Jermaine Beckford putting Everton in control. A Michael Collins drive gave Scunthorpe hope but Seamus Coleman's header, Marouane Fellaini's shot and a Baines curler underlined Everton’s superiority.

January 2010 Everton 3 Carlisle 1

A flattering scoreline for Moyes’s side, who were given a real battle by their League One opponents. James Vaughan netted early on before Carlisle levelled when Adam Clayton's shot was deflected in by Kevan Hurst. But a Tim Cahill strike and a Baines penalty saw Everton through late on.

January 2009 Macclesfield 0 Everton 1

Leon Osman’s goal on the stroke of half-time was enough for Moyes’s men. Osman sent a half-volley into the top corner of the net off the crossbar from after Paul Morgan had headed clear Mikel Arteta's free-kick. Nat Brown headed over Macclesfield’s best chance from close range.

January 2008 Everton 0 Oldham 1

A much-changed Everton were sent crashing to a humiliating home defeat by their League One rivals. Gary McDonald’s spectacular 25-yard strike seconds before half-time won the game for the visitors, with substitute Yakubu coming closest for the Goodison outfit by hitting the post.
