Mark Lawrenson: Oldham will be no match for a strong Everton side

Everton celebrate at Bolton

I’ve previously said that the problem with Kevin Mirallas is that, at least at Everton, he doesn’t play enough games, and now he is injured again.

Some players have to be 100% fit to play. Everton will be hoping that’s not the case with Mirallas and that he just has a niggling problem.

It’s OK being a good player, but you need to be able to play. Darron Gibson is in danger of being along the same lines, although it was good to see him in the away end at the Reebok Stadium.

It’s horrible watching when you aren’t playing, but I don’t understand players who won’t watch their teammates play. You might not be happy not to be playing, but aren’t you all in this together?

Everton need to keep improving their squad.

You might not think it, but players like new players coming in, they like to walk into the dressing room and think ‘who have we signed now?’.

OK, it’s not so great if it’s in your position but new faces do make a difference.

You can never have enough numbers.

After all, Everton may never have a better chance of finishing in the top four than this season.
