MERSEYSIDE’S biggest weekend’s racing outside the John Smith’s Grand National meeting is just two weeks away. And the Daily Post has teamed up with Haydock and Aintree racecourses to offer readers the chance to be at the North West Masters on November 24-25.
We have three pairs of weekend tickets on offer.
Now in it’s third year the two-day spectacular features the Grade One Betfair Chase – won last season by the Paul Nicholls-trained Kauto Star with Ruby Walsh on board – at Haydock on the Saturday. Then at Aintree on the Sunday there are two races over the famous Grand National fences including the totesport.com Becher Chase – won last year by Eurotrek, also trained by Nicholls and ridden by Liam Heard.
The Betfair Chase is the first race in the Betfair Million series which provides a £1million bonus to connections of any horse who can follow victory at Haydock with wins in the King George VI Chase and the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Having done the treble and won the bonus last year Kauto Star is again expected to line-up in a bid to triumph for a second time.
The Becher Chase – one of six races on the Sunday at Aintree – gives horses the chance to sample the unique experience of the National fences over 3m3f.
The other contest over big obstacles is the 2m4f totepool Grand Sefton Chase.
As well as the racing, for 2007, Aintree will be introducing a taste of the festive season to their race-day, with festive fayre being the theme of the day. Father Christmas will be stopping off at the racecourse to visit Aintree's littlest race-goers, plus there will be Christmas carols and festive food shopping.
Tickets are priced for Haydock on the Saturday at: Premier Enclosure £43, County Enclosure £33, Tattersalls £19, Newton £9. There is one price of £18 for Aintree on the Sunday.
There are two options for two-day tickets. Option 1: Haydock – County Enclosure and Aintree – £36. Option 2: Haydock – Tattersalls Enclosure and Aintree – £30.
For both race-days, accompanied children aged 16 and under are admitted free.
Two-day tickets are available from the sales offices of both Haydock Park and Aintree. Ticket Hotline numbers are 0151 522 2929 (Aintree) and 01942 402624 (Haydock). Hospitality: 0151 5222911 (Aintree) and 01942 402623 (Haydock). Or you can book online at www.aintree.co.uk or www.haydock-park.co.uk
