DAVID PIPE could be double-handed in the williamhill.co.uk Handicap Chase at Doncaster tomorrow.

With the Victor Chandler Chase now a Grade One contest this valuable handicap will have its inaugural running to virtually takes its place.

The Pipe stable has been in fine form and he could run both Pablo Du Charmil and Helen Wood at the Yorkshire venue

Pablo Du Charmil won the Haldon Gold Cup in November and Pipe said: “There’s not that many opportunities for him and we were thinking about the Victor Chandler but decided against it – we’ve had this Doncaster race in mind for a while.

“He’s fit and well and should be like conditions

“It was a good run at Exeter, though I’m not sure how much everything was primed up for that day.

“He’s a good horse and has got a lot of weight – but he deserves all that weight.”

Helen Wood is not certain to make the cut but Pipe added: “She’s done fantastically well for owner Tony King.

“We only bought her out of a seller and she seems to be improving over fences.

“She was unlucky at Fakenham last time – she probably didn’t see out the trip – and the more rain the better.”

Doncaster officials are hoping the meeting goes ahead despite a cold snap due to hit Yorkshire.

The track is raceable at present but clerk of the course David Williams: “The forecast for tomorrow is snow and sleet showers and a further 3mm rain. It is really tomorrow night where we have the problem. We are looking at minus four to minus five.”
