IRISH trainer Dermot Weld was just denied a Derby victory in France yesterday in a week when he holds two big chances of Classic glory at Epsom.
Weld’s Famous Name just missed out on victory in the French Derby, the Prix du Jockey-Club, by a head from Vision D’Etat.
Weld, though, will bid for compensation in the Vodafone Derby at Epsom with Casual Conquest expected to be supplemented for the race at a cost of £75,000 today.
He is a best-priced 7-2 favourite with VCbet and Skybet for this Saturday’s Colts’ Classic.
Weld also has the second favourite for Friday’s Juddmonte Oaks in Chinese White.
The unbeaten Dalakhani filly is a best-priced 9-2 with most firms for the Oaks
