Fitzgerald’s hope

RACING: Tim Fitzgerald is hoping for a dry couple of days in the North East to help Inchnadamph’s chances in Saturday’s John Smith’s Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.

The trainer’s late father Jimmy won the race with Treasure Hunter 21 years ago. Now Fitzgerald is hoping his Inchnadamph, who has been third, second and fifth in the Cesarewitch, can help him do likewise.

Fitzgerald said: “He is in good form, but what I don’t want to see is anymore rain at Newcastle.”
