NEW APPROACH is now challenging Duke Of Marmalade for favouritism for Saturday’s Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes.
The two met in the Juddmonte International two weeks ago when Aidan O’Brien’s four-year-old won with New Approach third.
Since then Duke Of Marmalade has been odds-on to repeat the trick in Saturday’s 1m2f Group One contest at Leopards-town. But O’Brien issued a warning over his participation.
Jim Bolger’s Derby winner New Approach was backed in yesterday and several bookmakers suspended betting on the race.
Only bet365 and William Hill had prices ahead of today’s declaration stage with Duke Of Marmalade and evens chance with the former and New Approach 11-10 with the latter.
