HAYDOCK officials are hopeful of getting the go-ahead for tomorrow’s meeting but have called a precautionary inspection at 8am in the morning.
The six-race card features The Last Fling Chase which sees a number of course winners – including last week’s Tommy Whittle Chase winner Malko De Beaumont, Donald McCain junior’s Bannister Lane and Huka Lodge – among the 23 entries.
The going at Haydock is heavy, but is race-able. Officials, though, are concerned about frost and clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright said: “We would have been able to race today, but we are putting the frost sheets down.
“All the races will be on the chase course. That only affects one race which was to have been on the traditional hurdles course. We’ll move that to the chase course as it’s easier to cover. It all depends on the degree of the frost on Monday night, but you’ve got to be reasonably optimistic.
“We are expecting frost on each of the next two nights. As long as there’s nothing too dramatic, we should be fine.”
